The story of Hunajakeiju

When nature decided for us

It all started like a lighting bolt on one August day. That "bolt of lightning" appeared as a large swarm of bees that decided to settle in our yard.

We had been dreaming of beekeeping for a long time, but we hadn't taken the idea any further. The appearance of the swarm of bees was a clear sign: it was time to start a new life with these flying friends. The decision wasn't exactly easy - at first I was scared to death of these little wasps!

Passion for expertise and quality

We successfully overwintered our small swarm, and the following spring the number of hives increased. It was clear to us from the start that we wanted to do things right and with respect for the bees.

We took a basic beekeeping course, and later I deepened our knowledge by completing a professional beekeeper's degree in Mustiala. For us, solid craftsmanship is a promise that every Hunajakeiju's product is produced with high quality and ethically.

Hunajakeiju is a family business

Today, Hunajakeiju is a shared experience for the whole family. Our everyday life is divided naturally:

  • Mr. Hunajakeiju mainly takes care of the orchard work and honey extraction.
  • Mrs. Hunajakeiju (a former fearful person, now a honey fan!) is responsible for the production, sales and marketing of the products.
  • The young people in the family are always there to help when extra hands are needed.

For us, honey is not just a product, but a piece of pure northern Finnish nature that we want to share with you.
